14 new deaths related to Covid-19. 271 Covid patients in intensive care units.

7,405 new infections were officially registered on Saturday. That’s fewer than the day before, but still well above the previous seven-day average of 6,700. The number of active cases is up to 62,211, and the 7-day incidence is back above 500, specifically 526.94.

There were also 50 percent more tests in the past 24 hours than the previous day. 418,942 PCR tests were performed, bringing the positive rate to 1.77 percent.

There are also seven 14 deaths to report related to Covid-19 infection. Thus, the pandemic has so far claimed 13,844 lives in Austria.

Hospitals are currently treating 920 patients. That is 9 fewer people than on Friday. Intensive care units in the country are currently treating 271 patients, 7 fewer than the previous day.

At the provincial level, Salzburg is clearly ahead of Tyrol and Vienna. Styria is currently at the bottom of the list, although the curve of new infections is clearly pointing upwards again in all federal states.

There has been slight progress in the area of vaccination. In the past few days, the vaccination rate has increased by almost ten percent compared to the previous week, which was subdued due to the holiday. On Friday, 59,885 doses of vaccine were administered, broken down as follows: 5,596 first doses; 15,232 second doses; 39,057 third doses.
